BIO

- la bomba de tiempo -

A dream team of great percussionists improvises on stage while the audience’s energy sets the atmosphere. A true ritual of rhythm and percussion takes over everyone. A unique experience that has already been lived by more than 5 million people.

La Bomba de Tiempo is a percussion ensamble that practises improvisation with signs. Every show is unique and unrepeatable because its music is generated live on stage trough the dialogue between musicians and director, who leads the improvisation using a code of more than 70 signs made with the hands.
Every performance becomes a magical time when percussionists on stage interact with the audience while this one brings its energy, dancing and listening. It all creates a true ritual of rhythm and percussion.
More than 3 million people have already danced to the rhythm of this phenomenon that revolutioned the percussion scene in the city of Buenos Aires. LBDT has been on tour since 2006 all around Argentina and abroad.

La Bomba de Tiempo filmed its first DVD live in Konex in March 2014. Popular and prestigious acts Illya Kuryaki & the Valderramas, Los Cafres, Los Autenticos Decadentes, Chango Spasiuk, Mariana Carrizo and Bs As Brass took part on it. New material, presented at Luna Park Stadium in August 2014, was directed by Ariel Hassan, head of "Encuentro en el estudio" (tv show hosted by Lalo Mir) and also director of Jorge Drexler, Divididos and Kevin Johansen's DVDs, to name a few.
The band is on its eleventh season performing every Monday at Konex. All along this time, hundreds of musicians, locals and foreigners, from the widest arrange of musical styles imaginable were held as featuring artists and came up on stage to improvise along with LBDT. Some of them were: Calle 13, Café Tacuba, Rubén Rada, Liliana Harrero, Paulinho Moska, Pedro Aznar, Kevin Johansen, Jorge Drexler, Hugo Fattoruso, Lisandro Aristimuño, Gustavo Cordera, Nano Stern, Totó La Momposina, Jarabe de Palo and Los Pericos.

La Bomba de Tiempo was created in 2006 by Santiago Vazquez under the idea of putting in practise for the first time his language of rhythm conduction with signs. In order to do that he invited many of the best percussionists from Buenos Aires and its surroundings.
The goal was to explote to the maximum rhythm as a resource to generate a powerful and danceable music that could represent genuinely, through improvisation, influences from its members and the multicultural identity of Buenos Aires inhabitants. Since then, La Bomba de Tiempo gathers artists and public from all around Argentina, which makes it a representative phenomenon of our culture on a local and an international level.
In 2014 Santiago Vazquez left the direction of the group which is currently conducted by each of its members in turns.
